Hello.
Just a quick note to say I arrived safely. My plan of getting the train to the airport went a bit wrong after there was an accident on the train line and all the trains were delayed, with Boone knowing when they were going to start running again! But my lovely parents took me all the way down to heathrow so all was well!
Met some nice people on the flight. The guy next to me didn't speak a word of English and I don't know any Spanish, but we got by with sign language... And the nice girl from Germany on the other side of me translated when we got really stuck! But the man gave me his bi-lingual secretaries email saying if I ever got stuck, to contact him. How nice!
The nice girl frpm Germany lives in Santiago and she gave me her email address if I wanted to meet with her in chile! It turns out, when we were chatting, that she went to lincolnshire and humberside uni and lives in Lincoln for a year, graduating the same year I did! I never expect people to know where hull is so that was nice!
Made it to the hostel with no bother. Interesting seeing some of the building on the journey into the city, they look only half built (with steel girders still sticking out the to of the brickwork, like someone was supposed to be building extra floors) but people were living there, and there were loads of buildings like that.
Got to the hostel about 1.30 local time (+3 gmt) and promptly wrnt out to look at the huge Market that happens every Sunday in San telmo, where my hostel is. Lots of interesting things (amongst the usual touristy crap that's everywhere) but a nice way to spend a few hours.
I'm getting a hit tired now having had 2nights of not much sleep, but I'll stay up and find some tea. Haven't met many people at the hostel yet... Will have to see what happens later there...
Bye for now xxxx
But did the guy on the plane carry your bag? ;-)
